Fathers House
In a major city, scrap plywood had been collected and used by twelve year olds to construct a shelter around a steam pipe under a bridge. This makeshift shelter provided a warm place to sleep for several street kids. Our ministry partner, Sergey and I delivered bread, sausages and milk; after visiting awhile, Sergey asked questions about their situation and made some notes for further follow up. These children were not afraid of us (as they are most adults) because my friend was part of a regular team who sought out kids where they were known to hang out and bring them food… that was in 2000. Today, the problem of street kids is different. There are fewer kids on the street because in the decade since, the faithful workers of Father’s House have made such an impact in their city that government attitudes have changed toward the treatment of these children. The problem is by no means gone, Father’s House is still helping abandoned kids, but progress has been made. Today, after a decade of working together, CEO is involved in helping Father’s House move forward and prepare to invest in turning an abandoned, unfinished building into a shelter for abandoned children, a facility to care for unwed mothers, and a drug treatment center.
For over fifteen years these Ukrainian servants of God have helped thousands of street kids. CEO has been partnering with these justice seekers for nearly a decade.
