Matt Brenner

At about four in the afternoon on Mondays, the gym in a northwest Budapest high school comes alive as a dozen students gather to play basketball. This “open gym” is sponsored by their English teacher. Matt is in his first year of teaching conversational English with CEO.

He came up with this idea to connect with his students. His goal in Budapest is to be an excellent teacher and establish positive relationships with his students in order to point them towards hope. He wants to show them what it means to live as a follower of Jesus. As he models what a follower of Jesus is like, he engages them in natural conversations about life and the Gospel. CEO helps prepare, find places of service and offers empowerment to teachers during regular visits to the field. This helps teachers like Matt bring hope to places where suicide is, tragically, no so uncommon.
