Second Chance Shelters
Early one morning, in a medium sized Eastern European city, a worker arrived at a bakery to find two small girls asleep behind the counter. During the night, these tiny girls, aged six and three had broken in to find bread to fill their empty stomachs. They fell asleep. The angry manager called the police, who took the girls to the police station. Social services were called in but when they found the mother, she was drunk. When she sobered up, she told the Social Services workers that she would no longer care for the children. She did not know where the girls’ father was; perhaps he was in prison for drugs. They were homeless. She told them to keep the girls. Social Services called our partner ministry, Second Chance Shelters because they are known in that city as the best place to send abandoned kids for care. CEO partners with Second Chance Shelters in leadership development and financial support. (Please note we do not identify the name or photo of the children in these true stories to protect their privacy) Contemplate the sad but true story you just read and watch this video.
These kids have been rescued from abandonment. It is amazing to visit their home at the Second Chance Shelters and see how well they are. You can support Second Chance Shelters through prayer and perhaps through a financial gift to CEO.
