Students Serving Abroad
Please note – this page has been updated as to corrections to the information at the bottom.
Since 2000, CEO has facilitated trips for high school and college students. These service opportunities have been to Ukraine, Croatia, Serbia and Hungary. A team has been formed for the summer of 2010 to serve in Hungary.
Again in 2010, CEO is strategically focusing our team ministry on the greater Budapest area in Hungary. Our summer team will serve in Vac and Budapest by participating in activities which build individual relationships with students to support the ongoing work of CEO.

First, we will work with students of a Deaf school (in partnership with CEO partners) to demonstrate the love of Jesus to Deaf kids in their classes and during free time activities. Second, our team will be engaging students from two different high schools in conversations and participating in activities designed to provide natural opportunities for our team to share how Christ has blessed them and, Lord willing, afford the opportunity to invite these new friends to consider how Jesus can impact their own lives. Our final connection will be to encourage the youth of a new local church.
Further, Our team will be seeking to deepen their own relationship with Jesus as we serve together, study together and worship together. Often, it has been said that short term trips are as beneficial for the team member as for those to whom they go to serve. Indeed, many full time missionaries today, began to understanding their calling on a short term trip.

DATES: Our team depart THE DAY of Covenant Closing Ceremonies (June 4, 2010); Flying overnight to Budapest from Washington Dulles airport; returning no earlier than Monday, June 21 and no later than June 26th depending on final ministry plans.
COST: Each participant is responsible for $2500 to cover our team’s travel and ministry expenses. A separate trip to Krakow, Poland is being planned which will cost an additional $300. Students and families should be willing to seek prayer support for their trip from friends and family. A prayer letter will be supplied to use for this purpose. Trip participants may receive donations (made to CEO) for the trip. Donations may be tax deductable, parents and/or donors may contact Tom Foley for further information.
LEADERS: Tom Foley is Executive Director of CEO. He was Covenant’s Chaplain for fourteen years before taking on the ministry of CEO full time in July of 2009. He has traveled scores of times to the region and has led hundreds of students on trips to seven different European countries since 1997. Mariko Schaper is the Bible 10 teacher and a coach at Covenant and has been on many mission trips, this year’s trip will be her second to Central Europe.
